Forex: Fractional pips - August 2010
Starting 9 August forex spreads will be quoted in fractional pips i.e. one decimal smaller than a pip. If, for example, the price goes up the spread would now evolve from 1,3201 – 1,3202 to 1,3202 – 1,3203. With fractional pips the price could now evolve as follows for example, 1,32011 – 1,32021, 1,32012 – 1,32022, 1,32013 – 1,32023 etc. This brings our quoting to the highest industrial standard in the institutional forex market. It is also a first step towards spreads < 1 pip.

Futures: TwinCharts - March 2010
The new « TwinCharts » functionality allows traders to link charts which are in different time frames. The linked charts then become one trading tool. Traders use charts in higher time frames to identify the market trend or to place orders on important support or resistance levels. With TwinCharts, for example, you can draw a trend channel in a day chart and it will also appear automatically in your trading chart. Or you can place an order based on support or resistance in the Day chart and the order will appear in your main trading chart.  

Futures: Analyze your trading day - March 2010
The new « Daytrading Statistics » tool in WHS FutureStation generates an analytic report of your trading day. The sort function allows you to group your trades according to one or more criteria. All data in the report can be exported into Excel with a single click. A thorough analysis of your trading day can contribute to increased profits.  

Broker comparison: WH SelfInvest once again No. 1 - March 2010
The “Fuchs-Briefe”, one of the most renowned financial newsletters in Germany, have voted WH SelfInvest to be the “Top CFD-Broker 2010”. They have defined WHS to be “recommended without reservations”. Fuchs-Briefe tested amongst others the availability of the trading platform, the type of price feed, the extent of the product range, regulation of the broker and the safety of the funds. Crucial was of course also the customer service. This has always enjoyed an above average value at WH SelfInvest.

 

Forex : Micro lots - February 2010
The smallest spot forex ordersize is now 1.000. This is called a micro lot. The other order sizes remain 10.000 (mini lot) and 100.000 (standard lot).

Forex: WHS TechScan expanded to Forex - December 2009
The WHS TechScan module –included in the WHS ProStation trading platform– has been expanded to include daily scanning on the 120+ forex pairs we offer. The pairs are scanned on the basis of no less than 22 technical indicators, 9 moving average crosses, 20 candlestick patterns, etc.

CFD: US markets - October 2009
Starting October 5th the commission will no longer be a function of the order size. In the US markets brokers tend to work more and more with commissions based on the number of shares. The commission applied will be $4,50 + $0,023/share. As usual WH SelfInvest does not charge its clients a minimum commission.

CFD: Even narrower spreads - September 2009
The CFDs based on the Nikkei (symbols JP225 and JP225xx) are now offered at an even lower spread. The cash market CFD has a new spread of 5 – 8 (previous 5 – 10). The future CFD has a new spread of 8 – 15 (previous 10 – 15).

Forex: Turkish Lira - September 2009
4 New pairs based on the Turkish Lira have been added to the forex offer: CHF/TRY, EUR/TRY, GBP/TRY, TRY/JPY. In total WH SelfInvest now offers 124 forex pairs.

CFD: WTI crude oil 24h/24 - September 2009
The CFDs (spot- and futures-based) on WTI Crude oil can now be traded 24h24. Only between 23h15 and 24h00 CET is there a halt. This innovation gives traders more opportunities and increased safety (continuous stops and limited opening gaps) on this popular commodity.

CFD : Candlestick patterns - May 2009
The WHS TechScan module –included in the WHS ProStation trading platform– has been expanded with automated scanning based on 20 different candlestick patterns (doji, engulfing pattern, evening star …). This technical analysis tool scans all stocks included in 14 different market indices (FTSE 100, CAC 40, DAX, SP 500 ...) as well the indices themselves.

 

CFD: Volatility Index (VIX) - March 2009
The CFD offer has been expanded to include a CFD on the popular volatility index VIX. Investors use the VIX to gauge market volatility. The higher the VIX, the more volatile the markets. More volatility means bigger price movements and less market direction. When the market calms down, the VIX will go down.

CFD: Agricultural products – Corn, Wheat & Soybeans - March 2009
The CFD offer has been expanded to include 5 CFDs on agricultural products. These are US corn, US wheat, US soybeans, US soybean meal and US soybean oil.

CFD: Hungary - February 2009

CFD: South-Africa - February 2009
The CFD offer has been expanded to include 40 CFDs on stocks quoted directly on the South-African market. This market includes many large mining companies. CFD: China, Japan, India and South-Africa - January 2009
The CFD offer has been expanded to include 52 CFDs on Chinese, Japanese, Indian and South-African ADRs. ADRs (American Depository Receipts) are big, foreign companies which are listed on the NYSE. Included are well-known companies such as Petrochina and Wacoal from China. Konami and Mitsui from Japan. Tata and ICICI Bank from India. And, Gold Fields from South Africa.

CFD: Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) - January 2009
The CFD offer has been expanded to include no less than 30 ETFs. ETFs are funds which are listed on the exchange. They trade like individual stocks. Their prices are established in real-time. The selection is very varied and includes known names such as the iShares Brazil Index ETF, the Diamonds Trust ETF and, the Vanguard SmallCap ETF.

CFD: Spot oil - January 2009
The CFD offer has been expanded to include a spot oil contract (WTI crude and Brent). The WH SelfInvest spot oil contracts doesn’t have expiration date (position rolling is thus not necessary) and is not subject to a financing charge!

CFD: the U.S. Dollar Index® - October 2008
The CFD offer has been expanded with a CFD on the famous and popular U.S. Dollar Index. This index, which was created in 1971 (end of the Bretton Woods agreement), plots the dollar against the weighted average value of 6 other important currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, CHF and SEK). Investors use this index to open a broad dollar position as it avoids them having to choose a specific counter currency like USD-JPY or USD-CHF.

CFD: European sector indices - October 2008

WHS office in France converted into registered representative office - October 2008
With the approval of both the AMF and the Banque de France the French office evolved into a registered representative office, allowing the opening of accounts governed by French law.

US stocks & options: Uptick rule no longer exists - August 2007
Starting today, 20 August, the uptick rule no longer applies to Nyse, Amex and Nasdaq stocks. Short sell orders entered by retail investors will be executed immediately. An preceding uptick is no longer required. It is advised to use the ATD router when placing such orders.

Futures: stop orders on server (SYOMS) - July 2007
Contrary to other exchanges like, for example, Eurex, Euronext does not allow stop orders to reside on its server. Going forward your stop orders on the AEX future, the CAC40 future, … are held on the server of the depository bank.
